there is a green hill far away || art print
Around Easter, I tend to get the words to the old hymn, "There is a Green Hill Far Away" repeating in my mind. "There is a green hill far away, Without a city wall, Where the dear Lord was crucified, Who died to save us all."
As I pondered this opening verse one day, a distinctive image came to mind, of three, lonely crosses standing on a hillside with the open tomb in the foreground. I loved the symbolism of the different states of Christ's redeeming acts of atonement for us. It wasn't just Calvary. It wasn't just Gethsemane. It wasn't just an empty tomb. It was all of it. The all-encompassing act of His redeeming love.
