the walk home || anne of green gables art print

I love Anne of Green Gables, book and 1985 CBC versions in equal measure, but the closing scene of the show has a soft spot in my heart.  Gilbert meeting Anne in the fields behind Green Gables and offering her the Avonlea school so she can stay home with Marilla.  He tenderly calls her, "Carrots" as he tucks an errant lock of hair behind her ear, and all of my yearning loving sensibilities go absolutely haywire.

There is so much I love about the Anne series purely for the sake of Anne, but this scene reminds me constantly of how much I love it for the unadulterated fact of Gilbert Blyth.

This painting is my homage to that yearning, that sense of home, and equally, that sense of belonging.
