first traces of snow || mini framed original gouache painting

My camera roll is dotted with numberless photos, snapped hastily out the window of a moving car, of far off mountains. My childhood and early adult years are smattered with memories and views much like this one.  Expansive desert valleys that come to an abrupt end against the magesty of a string of mountains.

This study is set in the early fall, while the colors of the sage and desert grasses are turning russet and the mountain peaks get their first dusting of snow.

Gouache on paper.

Painting measures roughly 3.5-inches round, and roughly 4.5-inches framed.
