downtown christmas

In the midst of a busy, busy season, where I had gone weeks (if not longer) without seriously painting, an idea came into my mind for this piece.  I sketched it out, ignored everything else on my schedule, and painted my heart out.

I feel like this is the followup to my Christmas Village painting.  With many more years of painting experience under my belt, I got to revisit a fond theme and breathe in new life.  Perhaps my favorite part is what is not visible, but the contributions of my daughter who got to join me in the studio that day.  She is not often around on painting days, so this will always hold a soft spot in my heart.
