My parents, Lil, and I have established a tradition of ending the summer at a tiny cottage on a quiet lake in Northern Michigan.  It is days of quiet, nature, beach time, and togetherness before we return to the melee of the school and work schedules.

On mornings devoid of technicolor sunrises, we are greeted by the enveloping quiet of a foggy morning.  I will walk onto the rickety dock, unable to see the water inches below me, as heavy fog and mist blanket the lake.  Inevitably, the summer sun will burn off the miasma by midday, but those early hours on the lake feel like something straight out of a King Arthur legend of old.
