I am notoriously awful at drawing people, but one Christmas I got it into my head that I could paint Santa Claus.

With a young toddler at the time, I somehow managed to hide away for hours, first doing a pencil sketch to my like, then transferring that to watercolor paper for painting.

The result was my father's favorite painting of all time.  He still has the original and we hang it where he can see it every December.  A jolly likeness of dear old St. Nick, which I am certain I will never be able to capture again.
